LONCOM 2010

Sharing information, holding discussions and exchanging contacts – all around the subject of LON.

Aachen, Germany - 16th June, 2010. After the great success at its premiere in 2009, LONCOM will be repeated in 2010. It will take place as a LONCOM LonMark Community event and will be held on 8 November, 2010, at the Congress Center at Messe Frankfurt in Frankfurt am Main. As in the previous year, LONCOM 2010 will be a major international event for sharing information, holding discussions and exchanging contacts – all around the subject of LON.

Since it takes place one day before the GebäudeEffizienz Dialog 2010 (Building Efficiency Dialog) at the same location, it is also an opening to a sequence of events all about building automation, which will appeal to more than just industry insiders.

LONCOM itself will take place in English and after a keynote speech three thematic tracks are offered:

1. Building Automation, Room Automation, Home Automation, Energy Efficiency;
2. Enterprise Applications, Smart Metering, Street Lighting;
3. Technical Trends, New Developments, Perspectives.

LONCOM 2009 Review

LON® Technology Builds for the Future

Aachen, Germany – 18th November 2009. The chances are extremely high that LON® technology will maintain its position as the leading technology for building automation and further increase its ranking in this area and in other markets. In particular the need to reduce energy consumption is causing LON technology to be driven forward. This is the result of LONCOM 2009, one of the industry meetings based around LON technology organised by TEMA Technologie Marketing AG, which took place in Frankfurt am Main on 11 November 2009.

Some 120 participants from all over the world met at the invitation of LonMark® Germany and LonMark International to cultivate contacts, exchange information, learn news about the technology and discuss the development and opportunities for LON technology.

The keynote speech by Hans-Jörg Schweinzer, member of LONMARK Germany’s Board of Directors, and Serge Le Men, Chairman of LONMARK France had the title “A Bright Future for LonMark Systems”. The joint presentation clearly showed the many advantages of LON technology: an internationally standardised protocol; defined and tested interoperability; and the possibility to realise comprehensive automation networks with flat architecture via “peer to peer” communication.

The speakers’ appeal to the meeting was that although LON technology already is a very good system, it must be developed further. Above all a LonMark system design specification needs to be devised. The collaboration of the community is required for the preparation and implementation of this specification.
